ABOUT US

MISSION - VISION - PURPOSE

THE MISSION

We are a community of people intentionally partnering together to help mentor the next generation for successful and courageous living through Christ.

THE VISION

Our mission is to guide our children through academic ventures and spiritual formation so they can lead successful and faith-filled lives, interacting with and influencing culture for the glory of God and for the good of our neighbors.

As an extension of Fortress Lutheran Church, a congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Lux et Vita must operate according to the doctrines and practices of our church body. Participants in the co-op need not agree on every point of Christian doctrine as believed, taught, and confessed by the LCMS, but they must understand our commitment to our confessional and biblical standards. Participants are asked to verify their understanding of this commitment in accordance with our Facility Usage Policy.

We meet every Friday at Fortress Lutheran Church. We currently offer classes on a quarterly basis. The classes that are offered depend on the interests of the co-op members and teaching ability and availability. Every co-op meeting will begin with a chapel service for all ages, followed by two blocks of classes, with a break time for snack in between.

Current Classes

THE OBJECTIVE

Lux et Vita Co-op consists of a two-and-a-half-hour class on Friday mornings taught by the adults of our co-op. The co-op year is broken down into nine-week quarters.

A typical schedule looks like this:

8:45-9:00- Doors open, children are allowed to play

9:00-9:20- Chapel

9:25-10:10- First Block

10:15-10:30- Snack

10:35-11:25- Second Block

THE PURPOSE

The beauty of homeschool co-ops is that we are able to share our knowledge, expose our children to different subjects and teaching styles, foster academic collaboration, and encourage one another.
