What are the ages of the children in your co-op?

Currently, Lux et Vita serves children from infant through upper elementary. Classes are divided by ages.

Staffed Nursery: Crawlers through age 2 (infants are allowed to stay with parent)

Nursery Class: Ages 2-3

Pre-School: Ages 4-5

Early Elementary: Ages 6-8

Upper Elementary: Ages 9-11 (subject to enrollment)

Older Aged Classes will be made on an as needed basis!

Is Lux et Vita a drop off program?

No, we are not a school, day care, or mother’s day out. We are a volunteer co-op organization that requires parent involvement to ensure it’s success. A parent or another trusted adult is required to stay at co-op with your children the entire time.

As a parent, what am I required to do each week?

Most importantly bring your children to co-op each week ready to learn! This means ensuring they have had a good breakfast, are on time and healthy. Secondly, as an adult you will be in charge of teaching one or more lessons per week.

What are your religious beliefs?

As an extension of Fortress Lutheran Church, a congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Lux et Vita must operate according to the doctrines and practices of our church body.

Participants in the co-op need not agree on every point of Christian doctrine as believed, taught, and confessed by the LCMS, but they must understand our commitment to our confessional and biblical standards.

Participants are asked to verify their understanding of this commitment in accordance with our Facility Usage Policy. Our statement of faith can be found here.

How much does Lux et Vita cost?

Each family will pay a non refundable registration fee of $25 each quarter to cover co-op operating costs.

Each quarter has a $30 supply fee per child ($20 per child after 2 children)

If you plan on using the nursery, a $10 fee each quarter will be charged for supplies.

When are payments due?

The family registration fee is due at registration which is found online using Onrealm.org.

Supply fees can be paid at the same time. We also accept supply fee payments at the quarterly orientation meeting.

If I register my family and then are unable to come, do I get my fees back?

Unfortunately registration fees are nonrefundable.

Supply fees are refundable up until the quarterly orientation meeting.

When and where are classes held?

Lux et Vita meets at Fortress Lutheran Church (13960 FM 2410 Harker Heights) on Fridays from 9-11:30 am

We offer three main 9 week quarters per year.

Fall classes begin in September. Winter classes begin in January. Spring classes begin in March.

During November and December we will have a schedule of stand alone events and classes available for a per class fee ranging from $8-10.

What classes do you offer?

For the 2023-2024 co-op year we will be utilizing the enrichment curriculum from Memoria Press. Our Nursery Class will be using the Pre-School lessons, Pre-School Class will be using the Jr. Kindergarten lessons and the early elementary class will be using the second grade lessons.

You do not need to be using Memoria Press at home to be a part of our co-op!

This is a wonderful stand-alone enrichment curriculum that uses quality literature, poetry, music, works of art, science and geography to engage children of all ages.

I have children that would be in two different classrooms, how does that work?

The beauty of a co-op is having many hands available to offer support! Each classroom will have more than one adult in it during each class block.

You will be able to pick which lesson and in which classroom you would like to teach each week, allowing you to switch between your children!

However, if you have a child who could benefit from more parental support, we suggest you stay with that child each week.
